Mysore: One person died on the spot and five others were seriously injured as a result of the explosion of a helium gas cylinder for balloons near the Jayamarthanda gate of the palace.
A balloon gas cylinder exploded near the Jayamarthanda gate when thousands of tourists had gathered to witness the palace’s magi festival and fruit flower display. In the incident, Salim (40), a balloon trader, died on the spot and his body was dismembered due to the intensity of the explosion.

The terror of the explosion was heard up to a distance of about one kilometer and the tourists at the place were worried. Lakshmi (Bangalore), Manjula (Nanjanagudu), Shahnaz Shabbir (Kolkata), Kotresh Geetha (Ranebennur) and Ranjitha, who were seriously injured in the accident, were sent to K.R. He is admitted to the hospital and is being treated.

As soon as the incident came to know, city police and senior officials visited the place. Forensic Science (FSL) experts and dog team visited and collected evidence. Due to the festival holiday, the crowd in the palace has increased and the tourists have run in different directions due to the explosion.
