New Delhi: There is a custom of flying kites in many parts of the country on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Lohri. But this tradition of Paganism is now proving fatal because of the Chinese Manjha. Although there is a ban on the sale and use of Chinese Manja in the country, yet Chinese Manja are being sold openly. There have been reports of deaths due to Chinese Manjha from Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Gujarat. Many people were seriously injured.

Why doesn’t the government ban imports?

Now the question will come in your mind that when Chinese Manja is so dangerous then why doesn’t the government ban its import? The reality is that there is a ban on the import of Chinese Manjha, but now people make and sell this type of Manjha secretly in our country too. Nylon is used instead of thread in making Chinese Manjha. The nylon thread is coated with glass sawdust, which makes it more dangerous. Nylon thread does not break easily. If it gets stuck in someone’s neck, it acts like a sharp knife and the neck gets cut. If the injured person does not reach the hospital on time, death is certain.

Elderly woman injured in Telangana

Today itself, an 85 year old woman was seriously injured in Rangareddy, Telangana due to a Chinese tractor. A manja got wrapped around his leg on the road and his leg got badly cut. He has several stitches in his leg. The neck of ASI Nagaraju of Nallakunta Police Station, Hyderabad was cut with a Chinese manja. With great difficulty his life could be saved.

A boy named Rahul has been seriously injured after being hit by a Chinese tractor in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Rahul, who was going on a bike, also had his throat cut by a Chinese manjha. Due to the sudden incident, Rahul could not handle the bike and his shoulder bone and a rib were also broken due to the fall. Now Rahul is in the hospital.

Chinese Manjha is deadly for birds too

Chinese Manjha is proving fatal not only for humans but also for birds. Thousands of birds have died after getting trapped in the straw. Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered to strictly implement the ban on Chinese Manjha. The High Court has said that if someone dies due to a Chinese manjha, it will not be considered an accident but murder and a case of culpable homicide will be registered against the use of Chinese manjha. The High Court also made it clear that if a minor child is using Chinese Manjha, then legal action will be taken against his parents. After the strict stance of the High Court, now Madhya Pradesh Police is also on alert.

A campaign against Chinese Manjha is going on in all the cities of Madhya Pradesh. Raids are being conducted on traders and shopkeepers supplying kites and manjha. Police are keeping an eye on the use of Chinese Manjha through drones. Posters are being put up in cities, people are being made aware. Bike shields are being distributed among the people in Surat. Even in Hyderabad, Chinese gangs are being raided continuously. Even after this, it is becoming difficult for the police to completely stop the use of Chinese manjha.
