Dehradun: The doors of the famous Kedarnath temple located in the high Garhwal Himalayan region of Uttarakhand will be opened once again for the devotees on April 22 after being closed for about 6 months during winter. An official of the temple committee gave this information on Sunday. Dr. Harish Gaur, Public Relations Officer of Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, said that on Sunday, on the holy occasion of Mahashivratri, after the traditional worship at Omkareshwar Temple, the winter seat of Baba Kedar, the religious leaders and Vedapathis calculated the Panchang and determined the time for opening the doors.
Auspicious time on Mahashivratri
He told that the doors of Kedarnath temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, will be opened for the devotees on April 22 this year at 8 am in the Taurus ascendant. Chief priest of Kedarnath temple Rawal Bhimashankar Ling, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, temple committee chairman Hemant Dwivedi and other officials, religious officials and hundreds of devotees were present in the program organized at Omkareshwar temple decorated with about nine and a half quintals of flowers.
Shouts of ‘Jai Baba Kedar’
On this occasion, devotees had darshan and chanted ‘Jai Baba Kedar’ and took prasad from the stores organized by the donors. With the arrival of the auspicious time for opening the doors of Kedarnath temple, the dates of the four Dhams of Garhwal Himalaya have also been decided. The doors of Badrinath Dham will be opened for devotees on 23rd April, Gangotri Dham and Yamunotri Dham on 19th April on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
With the official announcement of the opening of the doors, the administration and the temple committee have intensified preparations to remove snow from the yatra route and restore civic amenities. Strict arrangements for accommodation, health and security are being made for lakhs of pilgrims coming from India and abroad so that the journey can be facilitated in the difficult geographical conditions of the Himalayas.
Dates fixed for all four Dhams
Let us tell you that the doors of Gangotri Dham will open on 19th April on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The doors of Yamunotri Dham will also open on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on 22nd April and the doors of Badrinath Dham will open on 23rd April.
