To commemorate the completion of 100 years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat addressed the gathering under his guidance in the major public seminar and dialogue program organized on the topic “100 years of Sangh Yatra – New horizons, new dimensions”. The event was held at the Himalayan Cultural Centre, Dehradun, in which many social, political and cultural issues were discussed in detail.
Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, while clarifying the objective of the Sangh, said that the Sangh has no competition with anyone. If the nation becomes strong, the citizens will also become strong. If the nation is weak, a person will not be able to live safely in his own country. The objective of the Sangh is individual development, because only a strong individual creates a strong society and nation.
India’s leadership role
He further said that after a long historical journey, today the world is looking forward to seeing India again in a leadership role. Through the principles of the Sangh, he called upon the gathering to participate in strengthening the society and the nation. He spoke about the principles of “Panch Parivartan” and urged to take a pledge to take India to its ultimate glory.
Mohan Bhagwat said that the root cause of social evils and discrimination is not the system, but the mind. Darkness is not eliminated by beating it, but by lighting the light. Discrimination will be eliminated only by change in behaviour. Many volunteers work for decades in the Sangh, but do not expect recognition, because work is the most important thing.
“Technology is a means, not an end”
On the digital age, he said that technology is a means, not an end. It should be used with restraint and discipline. It is necessary to give intimacy and time to the family; Man cannot be sacrificed for technology. He said that the one who works to unite is a Hindu. Devotion towards motherland is mandatory. The world understands power more than truth, hence it is necessary to acquire power, but its use should be limited.
The Sangh chief said that women are completely independent. Their participation in the governance of the country should not only be 33 percent but up to 50 percent. Women have played an important role during the ban period. He clarified that the Sangh does not do Hindutva politics, but works for the upliftment of the society through personality development. Corruption starts from the mind and can be ended only there. He expressed the need to look at the population from both the perspective of burden and resource and stressed on a thoughtful policy to be implemented equally.
