New Delhi: The Petroleum Ministry has taken a big decision amid the LPG crisis in the country. According to the new order issued by the ministry, consumers who have piped cooking gas (PNG) connection in their homes will not get LPG cylinders. Consumers who have both PNG connection and LPG cylinder will have to surrender the LPG cylinder. Instructions have been issued to LPG dealers in this regard. Dealers have been asked not to give cylinders to those who have PNG connections.
Decision taken for this reason
In fact, in many cities of the country, PNG gas (cooking gas) is supplied to consumers’ homes through pipelines. There are many families who have both PNG connection and LPG cylinder. The government has taken this decision in view of the long lines for LPG cylinders at many places in the country. The government says that strict action will be taken against hoarding of LPG. The government claims that there is no shortage of LPG cylinder stock in the country.
LPG booking increased
As per available data, around 60 lakh households across the country have PNG connectivity. Earlier, the Petroleum Ministry had said that there has been a huge jump in daily LPG booking, the main reason for which is panic. While the average booking before the start of the war in West Asia was 55.7 lakh, now it has increased to 75.7 lakh. It was said by the government that people should take PNG connection, because this will also help in reducing some pressure on LPG. The government said the salvaged LPG cylinders can be sent for use in other consumer areas where PNG connectivity is not available.
Government’s appeal – people should not panic
Let us tell you that due to the war between Iran, Israel and America, the LPG supply has been affected. Cases of black marketing of LPG cylinders are also coming to light in many states of the country. The government says that people should not panic regarding LPG. Officials of the District Supply Office and local administration are continuously visiting the area to ensure availability of LPG to the consumers.
