Bangalore: The Maharashtra Police have raided drug factories in three parts of Bangalore. This has raised concerns that Silicon City is becoming a ‘drugs hub’ and highlighted the failure of local police.
The fact that the local police didn’t get a clue that drugs were being manufactured in their own jurisdiction until the Mumbai police came and raided Bangalore, which is about 800-900 km away, is now the cause of a big controversy. A question is being asked in the public sector that how could the police from outside the state see the racket, which was not seen by the station officials who were only 1-2 km away.

Maharashtra police raided three locations in Bengaluru and seized Rs 56 crore. Valuable narcotics seized. A factory in Bagaluru’s Spandana Layout Colony, a street called ‘RJ Events’ in Kottanur NG Gollahalli, drugs godowns in Avalahalli Yarapanahalli were detected.
A total of 21 kg of MDMA including 4.1 kg of crystal and 17 kg of liquid form was seized in this raid. The kingpins of this mafia are Rajasthan-based Yogiraj Kumar and Nayana Pawar.

Taking serious note of the police’s irresponsibility or involvement in racketeering, the Home Minister has suggested the suspension of four officers. Sampigehalli ACP Murugendraiah, Sampigehalli Sub-Division, Avalahalli Police Station, Inspector Ramakrishna, Kothanur Police Station Inspector Chetan Kumar and Bagalur Police Station Inspector Shabarish were suspended. Serious allegations have been heard that these officers are only engrossed in land mafia and recovery and have neglected the drug trade.

The discovery of drug factories in Bangalore has created a political sensation and has become a platform for accusations and counter-accusations between the administration and the opposition. This failure of the police has brought great embarrassment to the government. Bangalore police, who did not wake up when a similar network was discovered earlier in Mysore, were involved with the traffickers? The question has now arisen.
