‘Sarke Chunar Teri’ starring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi (Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke) Following the nationwide outcry against the song, the central government officially banned the song. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this decision in the Lok Sabha. Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, responding to a question raised by Samajwadi Party MP Anand Badoria, said, ‘This song has already been banned. Freedom of expression in India is not entirely unquestionable. Everyone should follow the reasonable restrictions imposed by the framers of the constitution’, he said. Citing Article 19(2) of the Constitution, the minister said the government has the power to impose such restrictions when public order, decency and morals are threatened.
The government is of the opinion that such steps are necessary in the interest of the society in today’s time when things are spreading rapidly through digital media. “The government is ready to take any drastic measure to protect the society, especially women, children and the underprivileged,” Vaishnav told the Lok Sabha.

Immediately after the release of the song ‘Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse’ from the movie ‘KD’ directed by Jogi Prem, there were accusations that its lyrics and visuals were full of obscenity. Many objected that it portrayed women as inferior. The Karnataka and Haryana women’s commissions had complained demanding strict action against the song.

Many celebrities including actor Ravi Kishan, actress Kangana Ranaut, singer Armaan Malik have also publicly condemned the song’s lyrics as offensive. Commenting on this song, actress Nora Fatehi said that the film team is responsible for this. All these developments have brought disrepute to ‘KD’ movie.
