Actor Kichcha Sudeep’s movie ‘Max’ was released in 2024. The movie was a big hit. Both Tamil producers Kalaipuli S Tanu and Kiccha Sudeep have invested in the movie. The movie is distributed by KRG Studios. But after the release of the movie, a dispute arose between the producer and KRG regarding the finances, and the producer Kalaipuli Tanu went to court against KRG. Now the Madras High Court has issued a notice to the producers of the movie on the request of KRG regarding the case.

Kalaipuli S. on December 16, 2024. The deal was between Tanu’s ‘V Creations’ and Bengaluru’s ‘KRG Studios’ for the Karnataka distribution rights of ‘Max’. Tanu had filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court alleging that KRG Studios had not provided proper accounts of the film’s income and expenses and had not paid the dues to her. Also, outstanding balance with 18% interest and Rs.1 crore. He also demanded compensation. He also requested that the release of the movie ‘Mango Pacha’ produced by KRG Studios should not be allowed until this dispute is settled.

KRG Studios had opposed the hearing of the suit in the Madras High Court. The deed of agreement was procured in Bangalore and the agreement was also executed in Karnataka. The film is mainly in Kannada language. KRG insisted that any dispute should come under the purview of Bengaluru courts as per the agreement. An interesting point came to light during the trial. In the deed of agreement, the word ‘Bangalore’ was struck out and ‘Chennai’ was written in its place. Although Kalaipuli Tanu’s signature was next to it, the signatures of KRG Studios representatives were not. KRG Studios claimed that the change was made without informing them.

Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy dismissed the petition filed by KRG Studios. As per the agreement the money was to be deposited in the bank account of Kalaipuli S Tanu in Chennai, a part of the dispute took place in Chennai. Thus he allowed this case to be conducted in the Madras High Court. But KRG has now filed an application against this, and a notice has been issued to Kalaipuli in this regard. The next hearing is scheduled for April 6.
