In the 90s, Bollywood was haunted by the underworld like no other. Many movie actors, directors, producers and actresses were receiving threatening calls from underworld criminals. The murder of T-series owner was also done by this underworld. Some of the actors, who were scared, even appeared at underworld parties. But only a few had the courage to face it all. Now actor Varun Dhawan has shared in an interview the incident of receiving a call from the underworld at his house.
Varun Dhawan’s father, famous director David Dhawan, also received such calls from the underworld. Talking about this, Varun said that calls were also coming to our house, but the work staff at home did not know that it was an underworld call. The staff was arguing with the caller. We are getting into trouble due to this,’ he said.
As Varun said, ‘Once Underworld called, his house staff picked up the phone and got into a fight with the caller. Apart from that, he was given the full address of Varun Dhawan’s house and challenged, ‘If you dare, come to the garden next door, I will beat you right there’. Later, another actor from the film industry called David Dhawan and warned him. As the caller informed that he will come home with weapons and is asking for your (David Dhawan) office hours details. Realizing the seriousness of the matter, the Dhawan family had to leave their house that night and stay elsewhere for safety reasons. Varun said, ‘It might make me laugh now, but at the time it was really scary.’
Varun Dhawan recently acted in ‘Border 2’. It was a huge success at the box office. He is currently awaiting the release of his father David Dhawan’s film Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. It stars Pooja Hegde and Mrinal Thakur as heroines. The film was supposed to release on June 04, but the release date was postponed due to Yash starrer ‘Toxic’ releasing on the same day.
