A shocking video of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus running on Chamba to Holi route has surfaced, which has raised serious questions on the functioning of the corporation management and the government. In the viral video, the bus driver is seen driving the bus with an umbrella amid heavy rain. This video is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are calling it an open play with the safety of passengers.
According to the information, this bus operates from Baijnath-Paththar in Kangra to Holi in Bharmour. It is being told that this bus leaves from Chamba for Holi every day at around 6 am. It was raining heavily in the area on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, water started dripping from the roof of the bus, due to which the driver was forced to drive the bus with an umbrella. A passenger sitting in the bus made a video of this entire incident, which is now going viral on social media.
Problems with dilapidated or old buses
Local people say that this is not the first case. Many times before, videos have surfaced about this bus like roof leaking, glass breaking and it standing damaged in the middle of the road. In this service, which was started about two years ago on the demand of the people, dilapidated and old buses are continuously being sent, due to which the passengers are facing a lot of trouble. People have alleged that old and dilapidated buses are being deliberately sent on this route to benefit private bus operators. If these allegations are true, then it is not just negligence but injustice to the people of rural and tribal areas.
The young man had gone home on Holi
Raju Bhardwaj, the young man who made the video, told that he had gone to Holi by this bus on Sunday morning. Due to continuous rain, water was dripping from the roof of the bus and the driver was forced to drive the bus with an umbrella. Troubled people say that for how long will the passengers from tribal and remote areas have to travel in such poor condition buses, risking their lives? He said that HRTC management and the government should take immediate cognizance of this matter and provide safe, new and reliable bus service.
