When the electricity department cut the connection, the person did such a thing, half the city went dark

Kasaragod: Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials have revealed a shocking incident. Officials said that a person had not paid the electricity bill for a long time, due to which his connection was disconnected. To take revenge for this, the person removed the fuses of seven transformers in the city. Due to this action of the person, power supply was disrupted in some parts of Kasaragod city. This disruption in power supply occurred at around 6.45 pm on Friday evening.

“Within minutes, we started receiving several phone calls informing us about the power outage. However, when we checked the power lines, no problem was found,” a KSEB official said. Later, officials found during inspection of the transformers that the fuses had been removed. “When we searched the area, we found fuses lying near many transformers. Some fuses were damaged so we had to use additional fuses to restore power by 8 pm,” the official said. Locals told KSEB employees that they had seen a person removing the fuse.

The officer said the suspect is a resident of Nellikuzhi area. He said, “The same person had come to the section office earlier also. His electricity supply was cut off due to non-payment of the bill, due to which he created a ruckus.” Based on the information, the police took him into custody for questioning. According to police officials, the man claimed to have mental health issues. Police said a decision on registering a case would be taken only after the KSEB files an official complaint. KSEB officials said they would lodge a complaint on Saturday. Due to this incident there was power failure for more than an hour. (Input- PTI)
