What is the news?
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the PSLV-C62 mission today (February 12), but the mission could not meet its target. The rocket was lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 10:18 am. After launch, a technical problem emerged during the mission, due to which the satellite could not be placed in the fixed orbit. However, ISRO is still trying to contact the satellite.
EOS-N1 satellite could not be placed in orbit
The main objective of the PSLV-C62 mission was to deliver the EOS-N1 satellite into low Earth orbit. It is a hyperspectral Earth Observation Satellite, which was designed for environmental monitoring. There were also 15 other satellites along with it. Due to the failure of the mission, this effort to collect data related to the condition of trees and plants, soil quality, water and climate could not be completed at present. ISRO said that technical reasons are being investigated.
What did ISRO say?
ISRO has said regarding the PSLV-C62 mission failure that a technical glitch occurred at the end of the PS3 stage during the mission. For this reason the mission could not fulfill its set target. According to ISRO, a detailed investigation into this abnormality in the rocket’s performance has been initiated. Scientists are analyzing all the data to find out the exact cause of the problem and avoid repeating it in future missions.
