In 2025, Ranveer had praised Rishabh Shetty’s film ‘Kantara 2’ during an event. However, while showering praises, he made a mistake and copied a scene from the film, after which people accused him of insulting ‘Daiva’. Since then Ranveer is stuck in legal trouble. In January 2026, an FIR was also lodged against him at High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru.

Ranveer Singh filed petition in Karnataka High Court

The petition has appeared before a bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna, in which the actor said that his intentions were not malicious. The defense said, “His genuine admiration for Rishabh’s acting and his portrayal of the film’s characters has been unfairly criminalized.”

Court will hear on 24th February

During the proceedings, Ranveer’s side requested for an urgent hearing and scheduling the hearing on the same day, but the court took a strong stand. The Court clearly asked the counsel whether the investigation should be expedited merely because the petitioner is a Bollywood actor, or whether the Court would be expected to proceed expeditiously in the actor’s case. The court upheld the deadline and scheduled the hearing for February 24.
