LDF, UDF, IUML, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are the main political parties in the state. Haripad is a major assembly constituency of Kerala, falling under Alappuzha district.
Result of 2021 election on Haripad seat
In the 2021 assembly elections, this seat was won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress’s Ramesh Chennithala defeated Communist Party of India’s R. Sajila was defeated by a margin of 13,666 votes. He received 72,768 votes, which was 48.31% of the total votes. He defeated CPI candidate R. Defeated Sajila, who received 59,102 votes (39.24% vote share). BJP candidate K. Soman came third with 17,890 votes (11.88%).

In the 2016 Kerala Assembly elections, Congress candidate Ramesh Chennithala won the Haripad seat by a margin of 18,621 votes (12.51%). He received 75,980 votes, which was 51.05% of the total votes. CPI candidate P. Prasad received 57,359 votes (38.54%) and came second. BJP candidate D. Ashwanidev came third with 12,985 votes (8.72%).

Haripad assembly constituency is a part of Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency. Whereas in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress candidate K.C. Venugopal met Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s A.M. Won the Alappuzha parliamentary seat by defeating Arif by a margin of 63,513 votes.
When is the election for Haripad seat?
Voting for all 140 assembly seats in Kerala (Keralaam) to be held in a single phase. In such a situation, voting on Haripad Assembly seat will also be held on April 9, 2026. The election results will be declared on May 4 (Monday). The results of all the seats in Kerala will be declared on the same day.
