What is news?
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a long time. He has become one of the major faces of India’s diplomatic contact after ‘Operation Sindoor’. Meanwhile, when Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was asked whether the Congress took any action against Tharoor in the matter, he indicated not to be done. He said that a party may have different opinions.
What did Kharge give a statement?
At the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, Kharge, while taking a sarcasm at Tharoor, said, “I don’t know how to read English, but they (Tharoor) have a good grip on English. That is why we made him a member of the Congress Executive Committee (CWC).” He said, “The whole opposition says that we are with our army, soldiers and ‘Operation Sindoor’. The nation is first for us, but some people say ‘Modi first and nation later’, what can we do?”
What will you say on the question of action on Tharoor?
On the question of the Congress taking any action against the Thiruvananthapuram MP, Kharge said, “People will write what we will feel, we do not want to join it. We want unity for the country and we will continue to fight for the country.” He said, “There are about 34 CWC members and 30 special invited members, each of which each have their own views. What he is saying shows his personal opinion. Our focus is to save the country.”
KC Venugopal fired the opposite question
Reacting to the questions to Tharoor, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, “What you can explain, what you want to be thrown out of the party. A party can be members of different opinions and it should also happen. This is the beauty of the Congress party. However, when a final decision is taken at the party level, everyone should follow it.”
Tharoor has to face criticism of Congress leaders
Let me tell you that MP Tharoor took a different stand on the India-Pakistan ceasefire amid the claim of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and American mediation. He was different from Congress’ views. He has praised Prime Minister Modi and his efforts in this entire matter. Due to this, he has come under target of his own party colleagues. Several Congress leaders, including Pawan Kheda and Udit Raj, targeted Tharoor’s selection in the delegation who went abroad.
