New Delhi: After the beginning of spring season, the weather patterns in the country have changed. While it is raining in the hilly states, the temperature is continuously rising in the plains of north-west and central India. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in North-West and Central India is being recorded 2 to 4 degrees above normal. Dry north-westerly winds are continuously increasing the day temperature. Although a heatwave has not been officially declared, temperatures in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra are touching 35-37°C, indicating the early onset of summer.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in many parts of North-West India is likely to be 3-5°C above normal for a week. Maximum temperatures of 30-34 degrees Celsius are being recorded in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra. While the minimum temperature is being recorded at 12-15°C. The highest maximum temperature of 37.0 °C was observed in Madurai (Tamil Nadu) in the plains of India.
The Meteorological Department said that hot and humid conditions are likely to persist in some areas of Gujarat on March 4 and 5. There is likely to be no significant change in the maximum temperature in Central India in the next 24 hours. There will be a gradual increase of 2-4°C in the next 6 days. By the end of the week, maximum temperatures in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra are likely to be 2-4°C above normal.
