Ever since his expulsion from AIADMK, he has been trying to regain his political ground. Before the program he met AIADMK founder M.G. Expressed his loyalty by offering floral tributes to Ramachandran and Jayalalitha.

Eye on 2026 assembly elections

This activism of Sasikala is being considered very important in view of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections to be held in 2026. After serving a sentence in the disproportionate assets case and being expelled from the party, she is now looking to return to power through the 2026 elections. Sasikala had held a meeting with her supporters in Chennai. Arsan, one of her supporters, said, “We are with Chinnamma and no matter what happens, we will continue to support her. Whatever decision she takes in the upcoming 2026 elections, we will stand with her. I have been a very loyal supporter of VK Sasikala and her husband Natarajan since my childhood. This will always continue.”

Elections for the 234 members of the Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held in the first six months of 2026, with the ruling MK Stalin-led alliance touting ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’ to win against the BJP-AIADMK alliance. Tamil Nadu elections are likely to turn into a triangular contest with actor-turned-politician Vijay entering the fray with his party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’.

DMK had won 133 seats in the 2021 elections. Congress had won 18 seats, PMK 05, VCK 04 and others 08 seats. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which also included the Congress, had won a total of 159 seats. The NDA won 75 seats, while the AIADMK emerged as the largest party in the alliance with 66 seats.
