New Delhi: Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has challenged the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 in the Supreme Court. Prashant Kishor’s party has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the illegal procedures taken during the elections, demanding fresh elections in the state. The party has particularly challenged the direct transfer of Rs 10,000 each to women voters in the state allegedly during the implementation of the model code of conduct. A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi will hear the case tomorrow.

Challenge to send Rs 10,000 each during election period

Jan Suraj Party has challenged the issue of sending Rs 10,000 each to women voters under the Chief Minister Mahila Rozgar Yojana. Jan Suraj Party has argued that the inclusion of new beneficiaries and release of money at the time of elections was a violation of constitutional and electoral norms. The writ petition, filed under Article 32, said that these payments were in violation of several constitutional provisions, including Articles 14, 21, 112, 202 and 324. This compromised the fairness of the electoral process. Jan Suraj Party has urged the court to direct the Election Commission to declare the election results invalid.

Challenged this matter also

Additionally, Jan Suraj Party has also challenged the deployment of around 1.8 lakh women from Jeevika self-help groups at polling stations. The party has argued that their presence was illegal and further undermined the integrity of the electoral process. The petition also sought action under Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, which deals with corrupt practices in elections. According to the petition, 25 to 35 lakh women voters received monetary benefits. The party claims that this could have affected the behavior of voters.
